Eleanor C. Roebuck

Eleanor C. Roebuck, 84, of West Lafayette, IN. died at St. Elizabeth East Medical Center in Lafayette 11:16 AM Friday August 10, 2012 shortly after admission. Eleanor was born in Manilla, IN. May 29, 1928, the daughter of the late Ova and Dora Mull Cassidy. HSe was a graduate of Manilla High School, and was a graduate of Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis where she received her degree as a registerd nurse. She married James T. Roebuck in Manilla, IN. December 14, 1952 and he preceded her in death March 6, 1997. Eleanor and her husband moved to West Lafayette from Indianapolis in 1974 because of Mr. Roebuck's employment with Eli Lilly & Co. Mrs. Roebuck did private duty nursing in Indianapolis before moving to West Lafayette, and while in the Lafayette area, worked as a registerd nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital from 1974 until she retired in 1996. She was a member of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in West Lafayette. Surviving is a daughter, Sue Barlow (husband Victor) of Lafayette, IN.; 6 sons, James Roebuck (wife Mary) of Kansas City, MO.; Gregory Roebuck (wife Carolyn) of Indianapolis, IN.; Joseph Roebuck (wife Cecilia) of Indianapolis, IN.; David Roebuck of West Lafayette, IN.; Anthony Roebuck of Macomb, MI.; Eric Roebuck (wife Ann) of Brentwood, TN.; and a brother, Hugh Cassidy (wife Claren) of Shelbyville, IN. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Joe, Jim,Paige and Allie Roebuck; Sarah, Eric, and Kevin Barlow; Emily Guthrie (husband Ike);Nick Soto; Diana Glass (husband Brandon); Laura Morgan (husband Donovan), Tom and Michael Speros; Samantha Roebuck; 1 great- grandson, Damon Broadus; and 2 great-grandchildren expected soon; and by nieces and nephews, Larry Cassidy (wife Pat), Kent Cassidy (wife Elaine), Michael Cassidy (wife Peggy), Denisa Hill, David Snyder, Bert, Chris, Doug, Andy and Bobby Cassidy. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bev Snyder and a brother, Charles Cassidy. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette from 5 until 7 PM Monday. Visitation one hour prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 2224 Sacramento Dr., West Lafayette, 11 AM Tuesday, Fr. David J. Buckles officiating. Interment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. If friends desire, memorials may be made to the American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund.
